When not working, Katherine enjoys spending time with her family, countryside walks, swimming and continuing her Iyengar yoga practice.

Andrea is one of the preeminent Microsoft Word experts within the bid and proposal profession. Understanding the idiosyncrasies that affect complex bid documents enables her to maintain her calm professionalism in the face of approaching submission deadlines.

 

Over the last 15 years, Andrea has supported blue chip companies with templates and document formatting on major projects, including rail franchises and infrastructure bids. Andrea employs Word best practice to ensure absolute consistency of documentation and uses advanced techniques to produce bespoke client templates, creating an environment that allows bid teams to produce more consistent documentation that conforms to their corporate style, irrespective of an individual team member’s experience with using Microsoft Word. Andrea designs Word templates for a vast array of clients each year, including the development of macro-enhanced Word templates, facilitating document consistency and enhanced efficiency within the bid production process.

 

Keen to share knowledge and help bid teams, she has delivered training and guidance to a number of organisations on using Word effectively in a bid environment and regularly posts tips and blogs on best practice, via LinkedIn and other forums.

 

Between bids, Andrea enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, going to the gym and running. She jointly set up a running club and helps with couch to 5k running courses. She enjoys travelling and is equally happy lying on a beach or skiing down a mountain.

Emma was educated at Loretto School, Edinburgh and graduated in Psychology in 1992 from St Andrew’s University.

 

She joined the Royal Artillery as an officer in 1993, serving for eight years, completing operational tours in Northern Ireland, Cyprus with the United Nations and Bosnia. Emma was selected as the first female in the British Army to serve in a front line role as a Forward Observation Officer.

 

On leaving the Army, Emma worked for the Loch Lomond Shores Management Company responsible for their Operations, HR and Events – a socio-economic regeneration project initiated by the Scottish Executive.

 

In 2004, after a year working on a sheep station and milking cows in New Zealand, Emma moved to London to work at Barclays Global Headquarters in their Sponsorship Events Team, working on the Barclays Premiership and the Global Challenge Round the World Yacht Race.

 

Following this, Emma worked in private client corporate events at Barclays Wealth, working with high net worth clients based both in the UK and internationally. In 2007, Emma moved to Goldman Sachs to head up their EMEA Event Management and Hospitality Operations focussing on supporting the business build networks and growth through effective and strategically designed client engagement programmes.

 

In 2014, Emma took over as the Development Director for the Entrepreneurial Scotland Foundation, an independent not for profit that is inspires, develops and connects a diverse, talented and ambitious group of people who have the potential to change Scotland’s economy and society.

 

Emma is a Trustee for HorseBack UK , the Officers Association Scotland and a  Governor for Loretto School. She is a Fellow of the Rank Foundation.

 

Emma lives with her family in Scotland and has a passion for sports, the great outdoors and training working dogs.

This included the role of Marketing Manager for Ski Dubai, the Middle East’s first indoor ski resort, during the start-up phase, during which time Ski Dubai was awarded Superbrand status.

After studying aeronautical engineering, Ian has worked in business development, commercial (contracts and costing / pricing) management, programme and procurement management for over 30 years, predominantly in the Aerospace and Defence industries. For over 10 of those years Ian held executive positions in BAE Systems and Airbus either leading the preparation of major bids or leading procurement teams who were accountable for the solicitation, review and negotiation of supplier proposals.

 

He has lived and worked in the UK, France and Spain and had dealings with customers and suppliers from all over the world. Ian therefore has an excellent grasp of what is needed to put together attractive, compelling and, ultimately, winning bids – from the initial customer engagements and bid strategy development through to proposal creation, delivery, updates, and contract negotiation – in the UK and internationally.

 

Ian lives in rural central France with his wife and two dogs and very much enjoys his surroundings there with lots of walking, occasional sport, great friends, good wine and what seems like perpetual renovation work.

In her early career she served as an officer in the Royal Signals, and recently founded Netwalking Ltd, which provides executive and career coaching and mentoring for women leaders in the defence sector.

Bringing a client’s corporate identity into the proposal signposts the document’s heritage and gives a cohesive look to the finished document.
